FL's Women's Theatre Project Premieres Police Drama True Blue Aug. 7-31


The Women's Theatre Project continues its 2008 season with the World Premiere production of True Blue by Marj O'Neill-Butler, running August 7-31 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In True Blue five women, including two sisters, all undercover cops, meet regularly for drinks, games and relaxation. Despite the support, love and humor of their friends in blue, when an accident tears the sisters' apart it jeopardizes their careers and their love for each other. As cops, they are trained to handle everyone's problems, but they can't seem to handle their own. The three other friends rally around them, helping them through their grief and loss with humor and love, giving support to the women when they need it most.

The playwright, a professional actress and director, is a member of Equity, SAG, AFTRA and the Dramatists Guild of America and a South Florida based writer. She is a produced playwright of eight Theatre for Children scripts, the short play What If? and a reader's theatre script The Women of the Beat Generation. Other plays besides True Blue include The Color of Love, Rings, Belle's Café, Communication and What Are You Getting?

True Blue marks TWTP's 15th main stage production and runs August 7-31. Performances (at Sixth Star Studios located at 505 NW 1st Avenue) are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 2PM. A special 2PM matinee will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 2 PM.
